The two systems are fully independent: each has its own switch, channel, platform, and schedule. Free games accepts four schedule modes and spotlight two, and you can run only one of them if you prefer.
The announcement itself is under your control: you choose a mention role or leave it with none, send it as the bot or through a webhook under a name and avatar you choose, and design the message yourself with tokens for the game name, description, requirements, banner, and link, or leave it empty for the built-in look.
