Levels (XP)

Reward engagement with an XP, levels, and reward-roles system across chat and voice.

How it works

Members earn XP from their activity and level up as they accumulate more. Activity comes from two sources: sending messages in text channels, and being actively present in voice channels. Specific roles can be tied to specific levels and granted automatically on reaching them.

The three levels

Chat points

Each message earns a random amount of XP within a min/max range (15 to 25 by default). A cooldown (60 seconds by default) stops members from farming XP with rapid messages, and a global multiplier can scale all earnings up or down. Chat XP feeds both the chat track and the overall level.

Voice points

On every interval (60 seconds by default, minimum 30) a member in a voice channel earns a fixed amount of XP (10 by default). Voice XP is scaled by the same global multiplier and feeds both the voice track and the overall level.

Reward roles

On the reward-roles page you bind each role to a level, and it is granted automatically on reaching it. You can stack rewards (the member keeps every role earned) or keep only the highest (lower roles are removed on promotion).

Level-up message

Fully customize the announcement: plain text, an embed, a modern embed, or a designed image card. Choose where it is sent: the channel where the member leveled up, a specific channel, or a direct message.

Level variables

Levels turn ordinary chatting into progress a member can see. Every message earns XP, every voice interval earns XP, and the sum raises their level and hands them roles. The idea is simple, but the effect is that a member finds a reason to stay instead of passing through.

There are three levels, not one: an overall level that drives level-ups and reward roles, a chat level computed from messages alone, and a voice level computed from voice time alone. That way the member who lives in voice shows up next to the member who types all day, and neither one swallows the other.

The overall level is not a blind sum of the two. It is all of the chat XP plus the voice XP multiplied by a weight you choose. At a weight of 0.5 each voice point counts as half, so sitting in a room still pays without outrunning typing. Changing the weight recomputes everyone level immediately, with no migration to wait for.

Chat XP is random between a minimum and a maximum you set, with a cooldown in seconds that stops members from stacking XP with rapid messages, and a global multiplier that scales the whole rate up or down in one move. Voice XP is counted per minute, and the interval it is handed out on cannot go below 30 seconds and never changes the rate whichever value you pick.

Level difficulty sets what each level costs: raise it to lengthen the road to the next level, lower it to shorten it. Alongside it sit two separate daily caps, one for chat and one for voice. Earning on a track stops once its cap is reached and resumes at midnight. Zero removes the cap.

Voice is where farming usually happens, so a member earns nothing unless their mic is on and they are not deafened, and unless the room also holds the minimum number of members whose mics are open too. Sitting next to a sleeping muted friend earns nothing. Idle and offline members are skipped, and the AFK channel earns nothing.

Reward roles bind a role to a level and grant it automatically. The stack switch decides the behavior: on, the member keeps every role they earned; off, the lower role is pulled at each promotion so a single role always reflects their current level.
